Motor Vehicle Registration

Motor Vehicle Registration is the official process of recording a vehicle with a government authority, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), to establish legal ownership and ensure compliance with safety and tax regulations. It typically requires proof of ownership, valid identification, insurance, and payment of registration fees.

Once registered, the vehicle is issued license plates and a registration sticker, which must be renewed periodically, often annually. Driving an unregistered vehicle can lead to fines, penalties, or even impoundment, making it essential for vehicle owners to maintain up-to-date registration.
